Only the finest, 100% South African ingredients go into Banhoek Chlli Oil, which is why it makes the perfect ingredient for our Chili Brownies!

This chili oil is handmade in small batches and uniquely cooked using induction heating to ensure consistent heating levels that other methods simply can’t beat.

Banhoek Chili Oil has become a favourite in our family for dipping, baking and cooking – we are sure it will be a huge hit in your family too – Click Here to read our instagram post reviewing this oil.

225g butter

100g cocoa powder

4 large free-range eggs

450g caster sugar

1⁄2 tsp vanilla extract

150g self-raising flour – sifted

1 level tbsp of Banhoek chili oil

Icing sugar, for dusting

Pre-heat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4.

Grease a 4cm-deep rectangular tin, 28cm x 19cm, and line with baking paper.

Melt the butter in a small pan.

Remove from the heat and stir in the cocoa.

Set aside for 10 minutes.

Whisk the eggs, sugar and vanilla together in a large bowl until pale and foamy.

Stir in the cocoa mixture, flour and chili oil.

Turn into the tin and bake for 35 minutes or until the top is firm but the middle is soft.

Cool for 10 minutes, then turn out on a wire rack.

When cold, cut into squares and dust with icing sugar.

There are so many other family favourites of ours for using Bankhoek Chili Oil such as drizzled on cheese on toast or on a fresh leafy salad – the possibilities are endless. Say goodbye to bland food and start enjoying a taste of Banhoek!

As always Thank You so much for taking the time to read our blog posts and welcoming our new series of recipes onto our blog! What better way to start with something a little different!
